Highlights of My Most Special Day :)

First of all, I apologize for not having posted in a while, and now that I’ve got some time, I figured I need to catch up on all my posts. It’s been a long journey for me and Tim and the past two weeks have been the culmination of all that hard work. Finally the day has come. After all the hard work with enduring the k1 visa process, leaving home, planning a wedding, it finally happened. And now that it’s been a week, I can reflect on it and see it from a new perspective. First of all, the days that came before it was just a complete blur. People would always ask, “How do you feel? Are you nervous? Excited?” and to be honest, I really wouldn’t know what to say. Yes, I was both nervous and excited but I think for the most part it all just felt too surreal. Like it never really felt like it was actually happening until the day itself. I remember waking up the day itself and having it hit me like “Oh My Goddddd….” but then again at that moment you’re just on autopilot because you’ve been preparing for it and thinking about it for so long that you kind of already know what to do even if you aren’t thinking. But anyway let me back up a little… let’s talk about the days prior to the big day.

Well mom came on the 15th of March and since then people have been arriving for the wedding including my brothers, my grandma, my cousins from Dubai and California and my bestfriend from Manila. This is mainly the reason why I haven’t been able to post, I’ve truly been having a blast with my family and I wanted to spend as much time with them as I could. Tim, Mom and I drove to VT to make the final arrangements for the wedding and settle payments so that we wouldn’t need to worry about it on the big day. We still had so much to do, we bought decorations for the church, we had to write on the nameplates for the reception, we needed to buy the unity candle, put the ribbons on the favors etc etc etc… somehow though and with the help of my family, we managed to do it all πŸ™‚

There was a blizzard warning for that weekend so I was worried that some guests wouldn’t show up but by the grace of God it was sunny that day and everyone made it πŸ™‚ We drove to VT on the 31st and the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner was on the 1st. It was nice because mostly everyone had never been to VT so everyone enjoyed exploring and we all thought that VT was incredibly beautiful. We had our rehearsal dinner at a small restaurant in Northfield VT called The Square Biscuit and they had amazing home-cooked food. It was a nice chance for people to chit-chat and I think people were just so happy to have a break from the long drive to VT. The rehearsal turned out as expected- it was a mess!!!! But somehow people managed to organize themselves, thanks to my aunts who kind of took over and took charge of the whole procession and cuing of music.

On the day itself, I just woke up, ordered room service and then proceeded to the salon. By the time we were finished it was time to change and go! You really have barely anytime to think and process it, you just have to take a deep breath and let it happen. The ceremony itself was beautiful. It was such a beautiful church and Fr.Rooney and Victoria Wacek (the wedding singer) really delivered. It went by so quick. I remember being upset because 3 of my bridesmaids somehow lost their bouquets but at the last minute they resolved it so it worked out. Walking down the aisle was the hardest. I was so scared, nervous and overwhelmed. When my brother met me at the middle, I was incredibly nervous, but when I saw Tim standing there, smiling, I just felt all better. I knew this was gonna be a perfect wedding and it would all fall into place. And really, it did.

The Church

Well that was just a preview of the whole ceremony.. basically you get the gist of what happened. It was truly a beautiful ceremony πŸ™‚ When it was over we got to do the fun part!!! Have a military arch of swords as we left the church. Tim’s friends from Norwich were the cadets who did the arch of swords.

And those were some of the snaps from the ceremony.. I honestly could not have been more pleased on the theme I picked. The multi-colored dresses and crystal bouquets were stunning, and the groomsmen all looked dashing in their suits. Of course, the flower-girl and ring bearer also stole the show!

I personally would like to thank two people that day, for they really helped me keep my sanity, and that would be none other than my mom and my best friend Erica, both of whom flew all the way from Manila just for me.

And finally the ceremony highlights.. the ceremony was a blast!!! Seriously, it all worked like MAGIC. Jim Severance, our dj, had great music!!! The Capitol Plaza (and especially thanks to Emily O’Brien) was extremely efficient and professional, the food was so good and everything flowed so perfectly. Mom’s prizes were a hit, our dance was loved by all, and the cake was awesome. The cadets were the life of the party and everyone just had fun. Oh my gosh… that was such an amazing night… I will never forget it. Our photographer was really on top of her game too, she had great shots. I would highly recommend Jody Fenton, Jim Severance and The Capitol Plaza to any Vermont bride.

Well thats it for now… that was indeed a magical night, one that I will always remember and treasure.. I would like to thank all our guests from the bottom of my heart because I know that everyone drove or flew hundreds or thousands of miles just to celebrate this momentous occasion with us.. You will always remain in my heart as special people to both me and Tim. Thank you for being a witness to this day. I just wish everyone from Manila could have been there. 😦

This is only the beginning for me and Tim, our adventure has just begun πŸ™‚

Thanks so much! The train was something the hotel did, they put it on their lobby.. I guess they do it whenever a couple gets married there πŸ™‚
