Looking back and moving forward

So I haven’t posted in over 3 months and really my excuse is just that I’ve been pretttty busy with the hustle and bustle of grad school. It’s hard to believe that I’ve already completed my first semester of grad school. It went by so quick but at the same time I also felt that it dragged on for ages, if that even makes sense. I won’t go into detail about school but overall, I am extremely happy in Bloomsburg. Great program, my fellow speechies are awesome and I am learning so much. I did pretty well this semester (as I’m sure everyone did) and I am psyched for the next upcoming semesters even though I know it will become tougher. Next semester we officially have our own clients at the school district and at our in-school clinic, which is super exciting. I also got a graduate assistant job, which is wonderful because I get to save on tuition and in this economy it really does help to scrape every penny when possible. Lastly, I also signed up to do a thesis, which means I get to audit two classes. I still haven’t decided if doing a thesis means having more or less work… I’ll get back to you on that. But nevertheless I am excited to embark on this adventure and become closer to my ultimate goal, which is to obtain my C’s. 🙂

Last November I also managed to pass the PA Road Test and I got my driver’s license!! Woohoo!! Some things to remember for those who are still about to take it, learn how to parallel park!!  Luckily I got a really nice guy for my road test and he gave great advice and critique, and most importantly, he passed me!! I am so glad to have gotten that out of the way. It’s a blessing to get the license since I had to show that thing pretty much every 5 minutes when we were in Vegas. Yup, Tim and I just got back from Vegas about a week ago. (Great segue, right??) Vegas was awesome!! We were there for about 5 days and we stayed at the Trump and we gambled and ate and saw some shows… basically we had a vacation which was much needed after this semester! Oh and the coolest thing of all that happened while we were there was that Timmy met David Copperfield!! Oh yeah! So we booked a show for December 21st (7pm show) and in the middle of his show, he threw a frisbee and Tim caught it! He asked Tim to stand up and he asked Tim to say two numbers and also what color boxers he wore. He then asked Tim to go onstage and when he opened a box that was sealed, the numbers and the color of his boxers were inside and he then asked Tim to kneel and hug a pole and then he covered Tim and when they lifted the cover there was a car on top of him!!! How awesome is that!!! Tim claims that he never felt the car appear! Pretty awesome!

Other than that, life has pretty much been steady and routine.. I go to school, Tim goes to work. We are doing great though, and I really could not have asked for a better man. 🙂 I spent my first Thanksgiving and Christmas here in the US, and I’m about to spend my first New Year’s here too. The holidays have been somewhat hard, knowing that my family is so far away and I can’t visit them. But I know that this is just a small sacrifice. Once I am done with school, I have more flexibility to go home and see my parents. I also hope they can visit me soon. It also saddened me to know that my dog Hercules, who was 6, died this month of unknown causes. 😦 He just didn’t wake up.. He was such a lovable pet and I had him since he was 2 months old. Hercules was someone who always loved you no matter what, and he was the sweetest puppy you could ever ask for. My whole family loved him and grew attached to him and his passing came as a shock to us.  My family waited a few days to tell me since he died the weekend of my finals. When I found out, I was a wreck but I know he is in a better place now, and he’s my little puppy angel. I love you Herckie. Thank you for being a part of my life.

I’ve been pretty blessed this year. I got married to my soulmate and bestfriend, I got my greencard and license, and I’m in school.. I could not ask for more at this point. I have been given so many opportunities and I have a great support system who I know I can always count on. For next year my only wish is that I continue to do well in school and for the continued health and happiness of my friends and families. I have faith that the year to come will be a good one!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE AND THANKS FOR BEING A PART OF MY 2011! 🙂
